Have spent many hours there watching the vixen and her cubs playing in the lower graveyard. Its really spooky in there at night! Wizzy loves it.

Was he master of the hounds? Cannot read the inscription. While we are on the subject is this postcard Newchurch with Turnpike centre right. It was advertised as Kirk in Rossendale. If someone can identify it I will put it in the gallery.

Fantastic! - I've finally got one right! (after months of head scratching). The houses gave it away in the background.

Was he master of the hounds? Cannot read the inscription. While we are on the subject is this postcard Newchurch with Turnpike centre right. It was advertised as Kirk in Rossendale. If someone can identify it I will put it in the gallery.


I'd say that's defintely a picture of Newchurch - you can see both St. Nicholas' and St. Peter's churches. Plus it's lofty position overlooking the middle of the valley is a giveaway.

I'm assuming the photo has been taken from Todd Carr Road at Waterfoot.

Doesn't look like Newchurch to me. Ill have to get my magnifying glass out and have a better look lol, Miopia strikes again !

:elf: I will try to explain where Sissclough is, If you know where Todd road is where Boys has his office, if you drive to the end you come to Bridge St,if you look on your right you can see Edgeside Park there is a small path going up the right hand side of the park, that is Sissclough, it leads up to park road there used to be a lot of cottages at the top but they have been pulled down.:wave:
