[The 'Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit' thread (http://www.rossendaleonline.co.uk/showthread.php?t=2147) got me thinking about other films filmed around here.]

The Preston Front was filmed in and around these parts.

Anyone know of any of the filming locations?

The army cadet centre in Haslingden was used as their TA base, wasn't it?

Yes and several scenes were filmed at Cliviger.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118516/ never really caught on but wasn't bad at all. Whole chunks were filmed on Lee Road and Bacup cemetery.

Quality that was!

It was on UK TV Gold a while back. Proper 80's!

They should've opened up the army training ground to Joe Public - I'd have loved to have a go! :D

I loved Preston Front, I campaigned for it to be released on DVD and it was eventually...... Alistair McGowan was in it before he made his name as an impressionist.

Nice one, Kath.
You're campaigning worked although the boxsets are only £8.99 here (http://tinyurl.com/3xetef). :D

Stephen Tomkinson was in it briefly wasn't he? Did Alistair McGowan take over?

Just found a picture of the cast from The Preston Front page (http://www.mjnewton.demon.co.uk/pfront/index.htm).

Look how young Alistair McGowan looks!

Quite a good website that actually and has some of the filming locations and stuff.

The girl in the middle looks familiar too.
Was she in Corrie? Was she Curly's missus?
