I took my computer back to where i had it built and they found my power supply had blown up, so they replaced it with a 750w , now then heres the annoying problem, theres 4 normal molex power cables, and 2 sata power cables, the 2 sata power cables are different, one has 4wires one had 5 wires, the 5wire is needed for the hard drive otherwise it wont boot, and the 4wire when plugged in to my dvd-writer drive says its a floppy disk, so clearly one sata is for a hard drive and one sata is for a floppy disk, ( ive tried the 5wired sata power cable in the dvd drive and it opened but the 4wire sata on the hard drive wouldnt boot up), any ideas?

I think that's a bit beyond my knowledge, tbh.
Someone else may come along and help though.

What did the peeps who built say? Maybe take it back to them?

The 4 wire one, is this a white connector?
If so thats not a SATA connector, its a molex KK series one for the floppy drive.
And unless you have one, its obsolete now (I can get you one though if you want lol).

The other 4 pin ones that fit into your CD/DVD should also do so, you may have spare of them.

There is usually an adapter that will also convert rom them to the black SATA connector.

But then going off of your descriptions I'm totally lost.

If the 5 wire allows the HDD to boot up, and the 4 wire works the DVD then whats the problem? lol

No the 5wire connection is a sata connection, i will take a picture if you want? lol, definately not the molex one, the problem is, the one with 4 wires keeps recognising the dvd drive as a disk drive :(

The choice is yours, But i know which one i would choose..

Not really heard of ORYXX before to be honest.

I am just a little baffled as to why the GUYS you bought your PC off decided to fit a 750w psu, When originally it had a 850w psu in it...

I know you have said you cant afford to keep going down to stoke on trent, To be honest mate, I would'nt bother going again, They aint doing you any favours by putting a £30 psu into your relativley new machine...

Have you tried disabling the floppy drive in device manager & your bios.

Floppy drive came up on my machine when i first built it, I have simply disabled it in device manager, After reading about it on the net..
