Manifesto from Dale Connearn (Labour) for the Greensclough Ward
On May 1st I want you to vote for me. What I offer is my promise to do my best for the people of Bacup and also the whole of Rossendale.
I will hold regular surgeries so that you can tell me what’s on your mind and I’ll do my best to come and see you in your own home if you can’t make the surgeries. I can do my best but I’ll do a much better job if you tell me about the things that concern you.
I shall fight for investment to improve Bacup Town Centre in a way that helps Bacup to realise its true potential.
I want us to take advantage of our fantastic heritage and beautiful countryside to make Bacup and the rest of Rossendale more attractive and appealing to visitors without doing anything that will harm what we have got.
I want to work to make the town centre and the streets safer for people to walk without fear. I also want clean streets, free from litter and dog mess. I’d like to see Council staff with powers to issue on the spot fines for dog mess, litter and anti social behaviour if possible.
I want to see better leisure facilities, accessible for everyone in our community.
More needs to be done to put pressure upon Lancashire County Council to improve our roads. I also intend to carry on campaigning for improvements to the huge proportion of unmade and unadopted streets in Bacup and throughout Rossendale.
Many of these are currently being improved with Government funding after the pressure group I started in 2000 (Streets Ahead!) raised the profile of the problem.
I shall do my best to help ensure that the health and safety of our community is looked after with the best people and resources possible. Liaising with our Health Authority and our Police to ensure the planned new facilities help to deliver improved services for Rossendale.
I want to see new investment in play facilities for children and new activities for them to get involved with.
I want to see an end to poor quality developments in Rossendale, let’s see quality that will stand the test of time.
I’m Bacup born and bred, I love this town and its people and I want to see us all prosper, let’s get on with it!
