View Full Version : Rossendale swap?
If you could live anywhere, where it would it be?
For me, it'd have to be New Zealand for it's beauty and general laidbackness, which I imagine to be the same as the 50/60's here.
Thailand would be a close second, again for it's beauty and general carefree attitude.
Where would you like to live or are you happy as a pig in the proverbial, in Rossendale?
If I knew 20 years ago what I know now, I'd be sat somewhere on New Zealand's North Island.

We just had a party in my parents garden in Rawtenstall for my Aunt who is over from Gisbourne on North Island, the town at the edge of the world. Sounds a beautiful place but a bit backward in some repsects.

It's the first city in the world to see the Sun - here's a map. (http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=-38.65,178&spn=1,1&t=m&q=-38.65,178)
It was also one of the first places, Captain Cook found on his journey.
Nice little place but very sleepy - when we were there we noticed that most of the shops were shut on a Saturday and Sunday. When he asked why, they said that as everyone else was out enjoying the weekend, so should the shopkeepers - that kind of sums up the place.
Around that region, is where a lot of New Zealand's wine come from too, including the fab Bradshaw Estate.

Gisbourne is wonderful but I prefer Napier, second only to Rossendale.
The only place I would swap Rossendale for has 'Pearly Gates' (Although Perth in Western Australia is lovely!!!)

its weird aint it? you can travel the world but it always feels so good coming back to a place that never changes
See the "where are you off" thread for my choice.

I have been to many places all over the world and the only place I would swap Rossendale for is New Zealand I fell in love with Wanaka on the South Island, I have been to Napier and to Gisbourne and they are both lovely too.
However I really would like to live here for the rest of my life as it's an amazing area with beauty all around us, despite the town centre falling apart.
Have they got high speed broadband there? lol
