Hi Lee
Following a thread/appeal by someone for a gardener I thought it a good idea to look on the business section but I was unable to search by category. I could only search by name of company. Was it just me being 'dizzy' or is a category search not an option?
Thanks for the site BTW, it's very informative and I have picked up some really good links relating to local history etc. Sometimes it takes fresh eyes to see the obvious and by that I mean people who are new to the area and are enthusiastic to find out about their surroundings.

Hi Elcie,

There's a few ways you can search the Rossendale Online Business Directory (http://www.rossendaleonline.co.uk/business).

Firstly, the categories are listed on the front page and you can browse through them that way. Garden Services (http://www.rossendaleonline.co.uk/business/Garden_Services/109-0.html) is the one you'd be looking for, although a section on Gardeners in Rossendale would be better, so I'll get that added.

There's also a link on the left hand menu for a full list of business categories - Rossendale Online Business Directory Categories (http://www.rossendaleonline.co.uk/business/sitemap.php).

As you say, if you know the name of the company, you can list by name, simply by clicking on the letters at the top and bottom of the site. For instance, Rossendale companies beginning with A (http://www.rossendaleonline.co.uk/business/alpha-A-0.html).

Lastly, there is the business search entitled - Who, What, Where.
All you need to do is put in one of the boxes and it will search for you.
Ie. If you wanted something in Helmshore, just put Helmshore in the 'Where' part and click Search.
You don't need to fill in every part of the search box, just what you're looking for. The search feature is quite particular on certain things, so it's sometimes an idea to try different spellings or terms.

Hope that helps and if anyone has anymore questions, please just ask.
