And what is the reason for this serious action? :brickwall:
At least the taxi drivers won't be driving around at their usual twice the speed limit and pulling up where ever they feel like! :disappointed:
Strike action is being taken due to some of the taxis being ordered off the road, as they were deemed unsafe by Rossendale Council.

Strike action!...
They should think themselves lucky for living in this country with what they get offered in services from the council and governments, some of them get more than those born in this country!, without getting to racially orientated the last time this happened it was a complete joke. It did nothing to make them stand out for any reasonable cause it just wound people up and caused a lot of problems for the police and other services that can be spent on far more serious matters. It's an absolute disgrace and to be honest speaking from experience, half the taxis that are around Rossendale need some work doing to them so no wonder they are being deemed unsafe!.
What is this place coming to...
Grrrr!
M.
Not all taxi firms are going on strike though.
I detect Taxi Drivers coming in for a bit of stick in this thread ......
This action isn't going to help their cause!!!!!!
The last time I was in a Taxi, I asked ..... no, I insisted that the driver slow down and show a little consideration to his passengers and other road users!!!!!! :brickwall:
My Wife says that the traffic was backed up to Crawshawbooth from Rawtenstall this morning.

i,m a truck driver and if i have a light out i can get ordered off the road,
but i don,t carry passengers they do so if they can,t maintaine thire cars then get them OFF THE ROAD ASAP.
It would be nice to get a Taxi Driver's view on the situation. :suspect:
Depends on which view you want johnny. Its not all taxi drivers who were involved yesterday it was only some of them. I agree with everybody else if the car is not up to the job ie fails an imprompto inspection then it should be took off the road as it is not safe for passengers until why it has failed has been rectified and then pass another inspection.

The dispute was not about car safety, it was about the new regulations that the council were trying to bring in(without any consultation) which meant that the taxis would all be getting new badges/plates etc.All this would be costing the taxi firms meaning that this cost would be inevitably passed onto the customers through price increases. The taxi drivers showed their disapproval in the best way they could and in the end they won the battle and were heard.
I admit SOME taxi drivers drive like loons and do not deserve licences but the majority of Bacup drivers are sensible, honest, reliable men who value not only their own safety but that of their passengers. Lay off the taxi drivers-they're only doing what they think is best!!!

It seems that the new regulations are being brought in by by Government ...... Rossendale BC are just enforcing them.
As for new badges/plates ...... I am led to believe that these will only be issued to Taxi Driver when it comes to their renewal time ...... So why is that a probelm?
It seems that many taxi drivers stayed away from the demonstration ...... that tells its own story!!!!!! :suspect:
