HEADLINE: All change after weeks and weeks of above average temperatures and little or no rainfall...

FRIDAY: A cloudy start to Friday is present but it won't take long for the sun to get to work on the cloud and burn it off leaving behind another afternoon full of unbroken sunshine and warm temperatures. Winds will continue to be light and maximum temperatures will reach 19C.

SATURDAY: High pressure will just about dominate the weather during Saturday so another dry, sunny and warm day is on the cards. There will be further prolonged spells of sunshine but if anything cloud will tend to increase from the West later in the day perhaps making any sunshine hazy by evening. Still pleasantly warm in light winds, maximum temperatures 19C. Rain overnight.

SUNDAY & BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY: Unfortunately just in time for the Bank Holiday the weather will change and change in a big way. Both days will be unsettled and much cooler than recently. Any early morning rain will clear away on Sunday morning leaving behind sunshine and showers in association with a blustery westerly wind. Thicker cloud will herald the arrival of more persistent rain into the overnight period. Any rain will once again clear away on Monday morning to leave further showers being blown in on a blusterly Westerly wind. Feeling markedly cooler with maximum temperatures no higher than 14C.

So after almost 6 weeks of excellent weather, a big change is on the horizon. Make the most of Friday and Saturday because Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday will certainly be very different. The unsettled and cool weather will continue well into next week...

Have a great Bank Holiday weekend....Matt.

Well must apologise and hold my hands up for so far a very incorrect forecast for Friday and Saturday.

The dispersion of this cloud layer has been a forecasters nightmare to be honest for the last day or so, all forecasts even including national forecasts on the BBC have been caught out by this cloud.

It obviously didn't really clear yesterday at all which created a much cooler day than the previous day by 10 degrees in fact!. So far today during Saturday it is struggling to clear once again. The cloud is as far West as Blackpool so it is going to be lunch time at the earliest before it clears and there is already further cloud advancing from the West. As a result I wouldn't expect a great deal of warm sunshine today either.

A perfect example that meteorology isn't an exact science and even us professionals can be caught out from time to time.

Well the unsettled weather has arrived right on cue, thank goodness after a day or two of some rather tricky weather forecasting.

No change to the Bank Holiday Monday forecast, overall a continued risk of rain or showers, perhaps some bright or sunny spells inbetween any of the showers, but continuing unsettled.

Full weekly forecast coming tomorrow, but for a starters don't get any hopes up of dry, warm and sunny weather returning because its looking unsettled as far as you can look meteorology wise (5 to 7 days).
