I remember her too!
Wasn't she the Housing Officer for the Valley? Very formidable woman from what I can recall.
Spoke as she found.

Yes I remember her. My mum had a run in or two with her. Always wore tweed suits and skirts and sensible flat shoes. Not sure if she is still about, used to see her out and about in a little red car. (that would probably be long after the days of her horse.) I used to work at the town hall when she was there and she ran a very strict regime.

Miss Husband is still alive and I sometimes see her walking her dog, she was the Housing Manager when the Council ran the housing stock before the Housing Associations took over

I imagine she would have been fair but firm. I never met her when she was working but I remember she still rode after her retirement. Wasn't she rescued from a house fire not that long ago at the top of Fearns Moss, Booth Road?

I remember 'Miss Husband' well. I worked at Bacup town Hall Treasurers Dept. for a while during 1959. I always found her to be a pleasant lady and we shared an interest in horses. She would have to be strict and 'matter of fact' with her many clients - (and no doubt there were many who didn't like her for that) but she had a hard job to do:thumbs:

I spotted her last week, not walking too well but still out and about in her car. She was wearing a beret as I think she has done for many years.

I suppose it must be, although she was/is Miss Husband. (Don't suppose it was her mother who held the post before her).

She does wear a beret yes and always seems to have a rough haired dog with her possibly a jack russel. She must be in her eighties now.
