Cricket memories

Spent the weekend helping sort out some stuff for my mum and dad as they have just moved house and came home with a few things to look over including a little box that I had never seen before.

Inside were one or two newspaper cuttings and a small folded piece of paper which was rather delicate. When I opened it up it was a A5 piece of paper headed "With the compliments of the West Indies Cricket Team in Britain in 1950"

When I questioned my dad about it today he told me that it was presented to him by the Pro at Haslingden who he played for at that time and that it was given to him for a good performance he had in July 1950 at Rawtenstall.
One of the newspaper cuttings was just a headline which said "£28 collection for young Haslingden Bowler" so it's off down to the library this week to read the article and see just what he did for the money

I am going to frame the paper and pass it on to my Nephew who plays cricket and give him something to aim for.
I have attached a copy of the paper below

Re: Cricket memories

Everton Weekes and Sir Clyde Walcott, great names even to somebody like me who knows nothing about sport, must have been a great day
