Had a Teunderpole II aerial, also a big 3 element beam.

The beam made it such fun when combined with other gear so I could wind people in Burnley up saying I was from another country - winding the signal up & down... lol

Gave up rig fixing when I was in Burnley.

Midland thats the one!

Re: Were you on CB radio

I must have missed a spellcheck....it was a Thunderpole II twig

I had several others over time, inc a murphy base station.

Can't remember what happened to them all - I just kept the MM2 and one (who's brand I forget) that was good for taking out for walkies

Great aerial the thunderpole Matty, i remember going out on eyeballs with the old magmount on top of my mates car roof with the rig connected by 2 bulldog clips to a car battery which was sat in between my legs in the passenger seat!

Re: Were you on CB radio

LOL! Oh, God.

Memories...

I had a Midland ?001 with a 'rubber duck' mounted on an upside-down bin, which in turn sat on a sheet of aluminium foil from Mum's kitchen and all powered via a car battery - all in the back bedroom.

I remember 'Rambler'...

Re: Were you on CB radio

I started with an Am rig about 2 years before the legal fm's came out in 81 cant remember what the rig was but once legal i ended up with a dx27 on a biscuit tin in the loft with a midland3001 i think it was, then got an Amstrad? (think i only got that one because of the led indicator instead of the needle gauge).Moved on to a Rotel240 then a Harvard420 then finally till i gave it up a Cybernet3000.

A few handles some of you might remember.

Rambling Rose, Old Dear, Jack in a box, Tattooed Dragon, Bald Eagle. Seven Up, SilverLady(could have been saffronlady actually!) and SeaWolf, Doitche Girl, Coca Cola Kid, Rasta, Kestrel...... wow that got some brain cells going

Went to a few eyeballs as well at waterfoot workers which was a regular event and even down to horseshoe pass....

Some good times..

Re: Were you on CB radio

Wow you brought something back now lol

I use to go on CB aswell my handle was "Eagle"...

Ive had a few setups over the years from Mag Mounts on a biscuit tin to a Silver Rod bolted to the side of the chimney breast. I use to live next door to Ramsbottom Fire Station so chances are if you ever saw a big ariel next to it (bent thanks to a daft bird not seeing it after two days of being installed) then it was me.

I had a few rigs one being a midland with mid band, beep mic, echo mic etc.

Last time i went on about 12 years ago it was very quiet around Ramsbottom, use to chat to a few Truckers going to TNT depot in Rammy.

Use to chat with a few others called Energiser, Deltawing, Chewy (that the same chewy on here??) Batman and Hitman.

Anyone remember one handle called carousel?? suppose to be a man in drag lol

They also use to have meet ups at the working mens club at rammy way before my time.

I use to also take mine out mobile in my car which was funny when your parked out side the persons house or either at the top of holcombe hill flashing your lights at the person your talking to on peel brow estate haha
