"Rubber Duckie 10-4"

‪Convoy (1978) U.S. Trailer Directed by Sam Peckinpah‬‏ - YouTube

I could never quite fathom the fascination but guess it may have been testosterone driven thing !

Re: Were you on CB radio

It would have been around 1980 when I was into CB. The meet-ups (eyeballs) were in The Robin Hood, Helmshore.

There were some pretty good CB 'fanzines', sort of homemade things full of the lingo and stuff.

I'm racking my memory for handles. Silver Lady I definitely knew - but I can't remember which lady it actually was. I've got it down to two possibles.

Roman, fallguy and frisky lady, quarryman, apple charlotte, magpie(magpie1?), cardboardbox, misty-blue, pieman, wise-owl and the ever infamous(so i'm told) foo-man choo.

If you call isle of skye, south coast, france, spain, italy, south africa etc local - then yes... (on a good day)

But yes - things have changed - we not just use t'net.

A Rossendale chat group would go down well - the arguments would be such fun.
See who can key up over everyone else stopping the conversation.

Re: Were you on CB radio

You have to remember this is before mobile phones really took off and it was a free way of chatting to your friends.

Convoy was the film with CB Radio galore.....suppose to be making a remake lmao

I remember once when one of my friends was playing music to us down the cb, but we had better kits than he did so we keyed over him and was slagging his music off but he never knew haha then we both switched it to mid band and left him there on fm playing music.....daft get didnt realise for 20mins.

We did use to have some laughs on winding people up....

Yes i heard the same rumour about that carosel but never met him.

Re: Were you on CB radio

I have photos somewhere...don't make me find and post them

Anyone remember the 24hr event when the Waterfoot eyeball lot had a caravan and they were talking all over the place?
I went up Hamildon hill with a bivvy, DV27, radio & a battery and got people in for miles.

I cannot remember many names - silverlady rings a bell though.

I started when I lived in Middleton, from DV2 through to the thunderpole.
Pretty sure I still have the DV27 somewhere- I certainly have a car mounted whip.
Got myself a 6x4 shed for a radio shack - got quite a long distance too.
Things tailed off soon as the kids took over and the decent chats went over to the internet.

Was anyone into QSL cards swapping?
