I had a Midland in my bedroom and started out as Morticia but had to change as someone else was using that handle so I'm not exactly sure why but I changed to Just Musk must have been after the perfume I used at the time. I was still at school so didn't have my own transport and I lived in Greenmount so me and my other CB mates used to meet up for eyeballs at the Hare n Hounds in Holcome Brook.

It's not so bad; it'll sit in top gear all day long until you come to a hill, so using the CB is very easy. Oh, it only has a crash first gear, the rest are synchro double de clutching is still better for a quick and smooth change though! Very nice 'box to use, actually.

CB has to be isolated from the rest of the car though, as the car is on positive earth still (see no reason to change). The ground plane is the steel roofrack on top, which is isolated from the body of the car with its rubber feet! Works quite well, I have to say, but it is not a very powerful unit so I cannot transmit too far. I get people from manchester way from behind the house here in Newchurch (not even an open space), which for a little unit on an ancient aerial I am quite pleased with. Would like something bigger and better, but I just picked it up quickly when I needed one a couple of years ago - works perfectly for us in our cars though

It sounds well cool, Calum.

'Doubling' the clutch is how I drive! I had a er, couple of courses once upon a time, and my instructors insisted on it. Insisted, on pain of much penalty if any of us failed to do so.

Re: Were you on CB radio

Does help, because if you rush it into second from third the synchro can't keep up and you get a horrible crunch.
Sometimes, Glaciers do move quicker!!

This thread has reminded me, I need some coax connectors to make some leads up so I can check the SWR again. I borrowed my mates meter last time, but I have one now and a massive roll of coax but I need to get some connectors to make a patch lead. If there's a chap over on the car boot I'll have to go have a look next week!

Re: Were you on CB radio

Old thread but the only one where it was mentioned, unfortunately the Sparrows Nest at the Rossendale car boot is no more - the owner passed away a couple of weeks ago.

10-10 old fella.
