I was fishing standing on a reef in Mozambique last Friday, the sea was turquoise blue and not a rod length away were turtles feeding on the mossy/ grass growth on the edge of the reef. They would come up for air every now and then, look at me and then dive back down to carry on eating, it was just wonderful to be there in the middle of nature.

It was a spring tide (very low) and a few of the locals were harvesting the black mussels and other shell fish off the edge of the reef for their own subsistence (not commercial), the locals have been scratching a living for hundreds of years and there are large sea shell middens on the dunes everywhere.

I had given out a few packets of hooks and fishing line to some of the locals as I always do when I am in Mozambique. On Friday a man with his wife and 5 children who the day before I had given a packet of hooks and a roll of line, showed me a large rock cod that he had caught an hour before with my hook and line, he had a large smile on his face.

This news item made my day .

More than 200 people attended the funeral of a former serviceman following a Facebook appeal, amid fears he would be buried without mourners.

Proof that honesty does pay

Many years ago my mother and grandma about 2 days before Christmas found a wad 1 notes in the local street It was in the early 60's and I would estimate its worth today would be 2 or 3 thousand pounds.. I ranted and raved at them not to take it to the police but being from the old school they did. The guy gave them in todays money about 20.
I just wonder now that I am much older and wiser note I did not put much wiser if I would do the same as them now. I honestly dont know. Could I resist temptation?

Not me. Only obey laws that suit me. Actually the thought of the law would have no consideration. I would have to question my honesty regarding the matter. I honestly dont know what the answer would be. If it was a small amount I would more than likely hand it in, I certainly would. A large amount I cannot in all honesty say. Thats an honest answer and could others answer in all honesty. I am a cynical sort of guy and think most people have their price?

Good honest answer!
I would probably hand it in - in fact I think I definitely would, but I'd make bloody sure the policeman couldn't purloin it! And then again how do you know it's honestly gained in the first place? If someone's ditched their ill-gotten gains form a drug deal should you hand it back? Is it better to just give it to charity? And is it a real charity, or a con? And if it is a real charity does 90% of its income go on salaries?
Life's a moral maze!

Consider me legless (if that's not politically incorrect)
