Don't know if we already have a thread for news stories so...

Not sure if this is being reported for news or entertainment.

Saw this article online and found it interesting on many levels. An orthodox Jewish man travelled by plane whilst sat covered in a plastic bag.

I've stopped being amazed at the sheer stupidity of deeply religious people.

What does intrigue me is the acceptance of people doing something as ridiculous as this under the guise of religion and it being deemed as perfectly acceptable behaviour. I saw a clip of some religious festival in India or Pakistan recently where the participants wilfully sliced their own bodies open as a crowd of onlookers cheered them on, not just flesh wounds but extremely deep, serious cuts, again in the name of religion.

People who commit these sort of acts without the religious overtones are deemed as mentally ill in normal society, but do it because of your religious beliefs and whaddya know, perfectly acceptable.

Religion, it's mad innit.

That was my first thought. Was he given prior permission i wonder. How would i react if i was sat next to someone who was sat in a plastic bag. Would it be a problem in an emergency, having to exit quickly?
