They can charge as much as they want for me!
My wife bought 4 big Aldi bags and goes into Asda with them. If people dont like the idea of paying for plastic bags then buy big shopping bags.... simple solution!
As for Wales and free prescriptions.. it's a joke, they should be charged.

FYI - Asda etc are going to stop giving away free bags shortly, they will be charging for them. (October).

Get in quick beforehand to get your bags for life.

Re: Plastic bag charges by May 2011

I use a mixture of free bags and reusable ones.
I collect the free bags for when walking in the park etc (something to put rubbish I pick up in).

I can see me using the self serve a lot more.

I try to use blue Ikea bags (when I remember them). They fit great in empty trolley& I can generally fling shopping in at same speed as till operator can scan !

And gardening. I use the older ones (that won't fold back flat) when weeding. If the bag gets too heavy I just drag it behind me.

Even used them to collect the chipped off rendering our builders failed to clear. Bag weighed too much for me to lift into boot unaided, between two of us we managed to get it in. The bag & handles held out !

And have absolutely no idea how uni students transported their worldly possessions before those infamous blue bags appeared.

Re: Plastic bag charges by May 2011

I use them for keeping polishing rags in, one bag for clean and one bag for dirty to be washed.
