Re: Any Old Soldiers Out there?

That's great news, Frankie.

Here's some info I found:
Quote:
The Veterans Badge is a lapel badge for UK Armed Forces Veterans who enlisted in HM Armed Forces between 3 September 1945 and 31 December 1959.
There is no qualifying length of Service.
The badge is issued by the Veterans Agency. More details can be found on their website at http://www.veterans-uk.info or by calling 0800 169 2277.
Is that the number you have?

Re: Any Old Soldiers Out there?

This is fab i have just contacted them on behalf of my grandad he is 86 yrs old.
He has no idea why i have asked him all the relevant questions bless him.
This year i attended the memorial parades at Whitworth, Waterfoot and Bacup as i was on duty and my grandad attended the one in Waterfoot and it really saddened me to see him look for familiar faces that some of which were not there...................
i am so proud of him.

Posted on this thread to reopen for any that missed it 2007/2008 . Applications for a medal or veterans badge are still ongoing.

But also saw this :
Can you help the North West Film Archive reunite these men who served in the Second World War and their families with films they appeared in 70 years ago? :

Can you help find these East Lancs servicemen? (From Lancashire Telegraph)
