Front windscreen de-icer?

Do any of you petrol heads out there know if there is a car with a heated front windscreen, I am considering changing my car and I hate de-icing my car in the winter, I was just wondering if there is such a thing. I wouldn't be buying new so secondhand options would be my choice. Is there such a beast?

Re: Front windscreen de-icer?

On my wish list for next car too.

I know a lot of Ford cars have it (called Quickclear) and I read once that they had patented it.

That might be true because I haven't seen other cars with it.

So maybe a Focus or Fiesta might be ones to look at.

Cheers

Think you might struggle for that kind of money as ford had this technology patented up to around 2010/11

Another option though, If your current car or your next car is going to be a diesel, Then you could consider fitting a webatso diesel heating system, which can be operated by remote control from the comfort of your home 15 - 20 mins before leaving for the journey ahead,
Not only would this clear the windscreen but the whole interior of your car would be lovely & warm with it being set to your desired temperature, Now imagine that in the grips of a typical Rossendale valley's winters morning, NICE..

Me though, Find absolutely nothing wrong with a bowl full of tepid water.

The Evoque (Range Rover new model) has heated front windscreen (@30,000 though ! ) Think some VWs have them.
My friend has a Ford with one, swears by it, but does have problems with SatNav function .

Re: Front windscreen de-icer?

Fords have had them for many years, our last 3 fords have all had the quickclear system going back to the late 90's. the system works like a heated rear screen but with finer lines then the rear screen.

Range Rovers and Volvos also use the system as they were part of Ford when the patent was taken out by Ford.

You'll get a Ford for less the 3K with the system fitted its just making sure it works that's the problem.

Re: Front windscreen de-icer?

Would you not have problems with the suction cups on both items listed above with you saying your windscreen freezes on the inside

Think i would be looking for signs of a leak somewhere in the car
