Re: Cornucopia

Its with utter disgust I have read in todays papers that knuckle dragging scum have being looting houses vacated by the floods. In war they would be shot and I think that would be the thing to do now, nothing is too good for them. I hope people catch them and deal with them without the need to call the police. Disgusted.

Agree with you totally. Fill their waterproofs with cement & find deepest flood.

Shame though that our newspapers will focus headlines on minority of scum bag individuals and not give same coverage to the good work done by majority. Those who restore faith in human kindness & community spirit.

We have friends in Kendal who have talked about the teenagers who congregate in groups in the town centre most evenings & perceived as nuisance. Same group's who have pitched in as human chain passing buckets of flood water along .
And the young children donating pennies from their pocket money and spare toys for those who have lost so much.

But those stories sadly don't sell newspapers.

Re: Cornucopia

Bleedin' central heating went out last night and I couldnt be bother to get it going again, luckily it was not too cold last night. Now its all fired up and getting up to steam. The damp misty weather is so depressing, I would rather have snow. took a look in my shed today and closed the door. I want to start my latest creation but trying to start a 750 cc bike with striagnt mongrade SAE40 oil in is out of the question in these temperatures. Looking on e-bay for a set of starter rollers at a reasonable price at the moment will serve 2 purposes one to spin the engine over with the igniton off to ensure oil is circulating before starting and of course to start it when the igniton is turned on. My aging legs would call it a day at too much kicking. Roll on summer. Looking forward to Toffs on Saturday. When at the Animal Cemetary I always let Archie have a romp at the top end of the field, will need a towel to dry him off I expect, despite muliple covers in the back of the X5. The van will be in for its MOT at the end of the week and no doubt will require some work.

Re: Cornucopia

Sad news re Alan Rickmans death, really enjoyed his Sheriff of Nottingham and Hans Gruber.

Just read a motocycle magazine where someone else was recommending the use of the dishwasher to clean engine castings etc, just make sure your husband does not read this weeks MCN Lauriel

Re: Cornucopia

All very quiet on here.
Fed up of dreary season now - dark mornings/ dark evenings and miserable weather in between . Roll on spring.
I do have a few flower bulbs erupting in planters, no idea what on earth they are - someone bought me a box of spring flowering bulbs ( lots of different varieties ) I shoved them in lots of different planters . Now have no idea which are coming up first - will have to wait for flowers (hopefully !) and then attempt to identify.

Villager Jim: The anonymous photographer and his sleeping dog - BBC News

Posted this on here yesterday. Had only really looked at the photos. Just read it ...

".... and how he is enjoying being anonymous "....

The 50-year-old, who prefers to remain out of the limelight ,
"Everybody knows my Dilly shot" ,
at their Peak District home ,
likened to Banksy when he appeared on the BBC's Countryfile show (Derbyshire photographer Villager Jim to star in BBC TV's Countryfile | Derby Telegraph - "though some people will see my face" .Without wishing to give too much away, Jim lives in Foolow with his wife Jo and children Henrietta and Oscar.),
Villager Jim, who is originally from Sheffield, moved to the Peak District about 12 years ago, and only took up photography at his current home about eight years ago,
"I live on a farm" ,
The photographer used to sell wallpaper on Portobello Market and later ran a software company,
"I didn't realise for a number of years I was diabetic - so I ended up with this knackering illness that destroyed all my leg nerves and I was six months in bed",
adding he was thankful his daughter celebrated her 18th birthday on the same day he turned 50.

... Glad he took to photography rather than Mi5 !!!

Re: Cornucopia

Wish someone would develop a dating site for owls.
I currently have a presumably lonely one, apparently sitting on my chimney twitting very loudly. The eerie noise is resonating round my house.

Also wish someone would find cure for insomnia
