When leaving Rossendale in my very early teenage years England had hardly started move and never mind swing. Moving South was a wonderful new adventure and I forgot Rossendale for many years. Too much happening with my life in the South, fast women even faster motorcycles all in all a great time. Not time to think about "home." We had visits from relations and for a time the Rossendale Free Press was sent but after a time I stopped reading it as it seemed a place far off and of no interest. Midway through my 20's I started to think more about Rossendale the bikes had slowed down and some of the women too.
One of the things I missed was "them thar "ills. Where we lived was very flat.
Eventually I gradually moved North but to the wrong side of The Pennines but close enough to visit "home" as often as I wanted/want.
When I come back now I look at all the changes that have been made since my departure and remember what buildings have gone. When younger nothing seemed to change. I suppose when living in a place the changes are more gradual so are less noticeable but when one returns after many years the changes hit you in the face.

Boring eh? (notice the Canadian eh). Liven things up by shaping a coupla pieces of wet wood then sticking em one at a time in a closed pipe with a source of steam and voila skis. Not boring at all and only at Rossendale Online. You have to mount straps etc. yourself. Even less boring.

Save a little paint, you'll need it on the skis

Trying to buy a dvd of the BBc's trade test card transmission so I can be really bored. Will have to settle for watching the white dot disappear when I switch the box off

Live a little. Scrap the box and get a flat screen monitor and you won't have any more white dot. Plus no wait time at the start.

Hhmm. At a total loss for appropriate response .
Harry is one of your besi m8s ( .. where is that thread about things we hate ?? Stupid lazy text talk must surely feature !)
Are Yorkshire folk so boring that 'White Dot Harold' is worthy of a mention ?
... White dot has been replaced by Jackpot 24 BTW ( at it again )
BBC no longer has the National Anthem either, reruns of daytime shows with BSL interpreter ... Who would have believed quite so many people who experience hearing deficit also experience chronic insomnia ??

...

ps - I am also saddened by lack of posts on here.

Ok. Know it word perfect & would class it as musical genius.. But can anyone enlighten me to what on earth is it about.
Totally mystified...
Quote:
Reid got the title and starting point for the song at a party. He overheard someone at the party saying to a woman, "You've turned a whiter shade of pale," and the phrase stuck in his mind.[12][13] The original lyrics had four verses, of which only two are heard on the original recording. The third verse has been heard in live performances by Procol Harum, and more seldom also the fourth.[14] The author of Procol Harum: beyond the pale, Claes Johansen, suggests that the song "deals in metaphorical form with a male/female relationship which after some negotiation ends in a sexual act."[13] This is supported by Tim de Lisle in Lives of the Great Songs, who remarks that the lyrics concern a drunken seduction, which is described through references to sex as a form of travel, usually nautical, using mythical and literary journeys.[15] Other observers have also commented that the lyrics concern a sexual relationship.[12]
