Love my nostalgia fix of being back home. So many childhood memories from the 50's and early 60's. Delivering Christmas present to my friend in Heywood, thats going to be the end of an era as he closes his business Christmas Eve. Christmas Eve is also Archies birthday. |

If anyone ventures to the wrong side of the Penines I would recommend a couple of good eateries around the Ilkley Osset area. The Hermit near the Cow and Calf, done eat at the Cow and Calf over priced and rated. The Hermit welcomes your dog as well as you, Archie was spoilt with dog biscuits by the owner, good honest food at reasonable prices. Another place i have just discovered is the Chevin up on the moors overlooking Otley. Great food and good service, not the cheapest but good. If you've got your dog you can eat outside. Couple 100yds down the rd from the Chevin is a car park which overlooks the town of Otley where your dog can have a romp on the moors.

Wrong side of Penines ??
My first grandchild , due in seven weeks will be a little Yorkshire lass. Not too sure whether she has whippet in there with her, the bump is very large ! But recommendations of good places to go & eat with my daughter-in-law, leaving menfolk home minding baby is much appreciated. Plus if we can take their 2 dogs & let them have the attention that baby will inevitability & unavoidably deprive, all the better. Saying that, think their Pets@Home spending currently running equal to Mothercare ! Dogs have entire cupboard of new toys & treats. And they already have frozen stuffed Kong's in freezer to occupy during feeding times & visits from multitudes who have previously given the adorable pair 100% attention. They are also in process of buying new place too. Hoping to complete last week in April - that will be week to ten days before baby due. ... That may be the day to take dogs for good romp on the moors. May do recce first to check mobile signal strength - I am no midwife !!! |

LIKECi HAVE PREVIOUSLY POSTED oops the Hermite on Ilkley Moor is dog friendly. Archie was spoilt by the landlady with dog biscuits, she has a German Shepherd.
The Chevin has lots of seats outside but his high up and needs to be a none windy day. For a romp just down the rd is a car park and plenty of romping for the dogs on the moors. |
