It's better than letting some unsuspecting member of the public stand in it!

That's your personal opinion (strange, but you're entitled to it) but this was never a dog v cat thing it was about dogs fouling public places, and I asked why some dog owners chose to pick up the mess in a plastic bag only to throw it into bushes where it hangs around indefinitely whereas if it was left unpackaged it would decompose within a week or two.

Cheers Paul

Old thread but "dog poo" cannot be searched on.

There is some good news on this front.

Re: Doggy Mess

I thought that problem had been resolved by now?,but obviously not.In parks & similar areas we have bins for this kind of thing, which are used & then taken care of by city employees from time to time.On the streets you pick it up & take it home with you, people will remind you if you don't. Not quite so sure it was good news :

Rossendale Council has increased spending from 25,020 last year to 27,000 this year. In 2011-2012 it spent 18,416.

Thousands spent to tackle the 'blight' of dog dirt in Burnley and Rossendale (From Lancashire Telegraph)

Rossendale Council, which outsources its dog warden service to Animal Wardens Ltd

I didn't know we had outsourced our dog warden service - Not made much difference to the amount I hose off my wellie boots after morning jaunts with my two.
And yes I do scoop their poop but has to be said I come home with more in my poop bags than mine could possibly have deposited; mine don't often 'squat' on lead , but if they do its a blessed nightmare attempting to identify their poop amongst the other deposits on the grass verges .

It annoys me ... oh so slightly ...

Re: Doggy Mess

There was a tv show on t'other week.
A couple went along a path and put little flags in every bit, got to 75 and still had 1/3 of the path to do.

Put up notices and poo bag points and it was reduced within a few weeks.

Others there were residents who staked areas out taking photos as evidence for the council.

In a word, dont pick up the poop and you will get fined.
(in theory, in reality - I doubt it)

Mind you, you could always pick up more even though its not from your dog.

Re: Doggy Mess

Name and Shame is the only way IMO. However, people do not want to take photos or name anyone for fear of repurcussions. There is one particular dog owner is Stacky that lets his/her dog/dogs leave dollops everywhere.....I am on the case but not living down on the main road I don't see it happen. It's red poo, so relates to the type of food the dog eats. The owner just doesn't give a sh*t so fining them is only answer, but how to do it?
When up the quarry or hills it is probably best to not bag the stuff and let nature take its course (as per Digbylyx post yonks ago). Poo will wash away which is better than seeing poo bags left behind.
