I'm a Stott by birth and beleive Victoria park was connected to my great great grandfather John Stott. They also were big in Methodism and owed Sykeside Mill. Trying to find more info , think S.S Stott is part of family beleive an engine from there is being done up. Would love to hear from people.

My grandmother b 1894 always said she remembered Victoria Park opening and claimed some connection with the Stott family although I've never found the link in the family tree. The Stotts were respected Methodists but Weslyean's (Manchester Road) and our side of the family were all Primitives (Grane Road)

I have just had a look at a couple of books I have on Methodism in Haslingden and the Stott family are mentioned quite a few times.

I have done some work on this family some years ago in connection with a project on Haslingden Works including Sykeside Mill and S S Stott's so if you send me a pm I will pass the research on.
