Victoria Parade was built in 1899 and paid for by Sir H. W. Trickett.

The clock was erected his honour on the 13th June 1914

^ You beat me to it!!
For many years, the responsibility of winding the clock up fell upon the occupant of the adjacent flat!

i once had a flat there years ago, i had the controls for the clock in a cupboard in my kitchen. we used to have a laugh at peoples expense on a Friday night, one of use would spinning the minute hand round rapid mad and the others would laugh at the faces of those waiting for a taxi stopping it as anyone was tapping their mates shoulder to see the mad clock...and beginning again when the pal said its not working.

had the pleasure of going into the arcade once to a bit of work for the landlord, it did remind me of the barret arcade in deansgate manchester. very pretty two floors many spaces for small shops ( what i assumed to be shops anyway).

i wonder if anyone has pictures of the arcade in its hayday
