Anyone know if this was the site of the Deardengate Primitive Methodist Chapel which I think was demolished in the mid 1800s? Some of the graves are older than the Congregational Church so could it have been the grave yard for an earlier Church?

Re: Congregational Church-Graveyard, New Street-Deardengate, Haslingden

I have attached a small card which was given to me some years ago along with the burial plan for the graveyard at Deardengate.
On the left of the picture you can see that the Old Chapel was built in 1787 - moved to Grane Road 1855 and then moved back to it's original site but not sure when.

So it started and ended it's life in the same place but just had a spell elsewhere

The plan of the graveyard; does it name the occupants of the graves?

Unfortunately not. It is just a grave plan with the name of the person who bought it on. I have searched for the burial register & grave book for that Chapel for years and am confident it will turn up oneday but has not done as yet

I'm amazed that the blue gates at the top of Grane Road haven't been stolen and lower down where another chapel used to be the trees have become established and look pretty good

Just thought I would post this Grave Plan on here before I take it to Preston Records Office then if anyone is looking into the history of the place and least there will be a copy
Yet another document given to me years ago and rescued from the loft yesterday.
