A lot of the time people think that they are doing a thankless task, they still do it to the best of their abilities but feel that no one is thanking them for doing a good job.

Within Rossendale we have lots of stone walling alongside our roads keeping the land back that is in a terrible state of disrepair, this walling just gets left un-maintained and is often open to easy stone theft due to there being no mortar keeping them held fast.

Well, there is a team of guys that are working on the wall on Haslingden road that goes from just before (Opposite) All Saints school to the traffic lights at the bottom of Union road.
It has been in a really bad state of repair as long as I have lived here, however these guys have taken it apart where needed and repointed, reseated, replaced and repaired it and are now working close to the Union road end.

It looks like a damn good job, superb, fantastic and I as a member of the local community would like to thank you guys, the whole team that are doing this.
That wall is older than me and will now outlive me thanks to the works carried out recently.

The delays due to the temporary traffic lights are minor and well worth it for the end result, if I could post a pic here I would.

Thank's guys, be proud of yourselves.

(Similar send to the free press).

Sometimes even councils can get things right, A few weeks ago all the folk in my lane received a letter notifying us that the lane would be closed due to repairs. So straight away I had a thrombie telling the wife no one is going to stop me going in and out as and when I want to. I telephoned the number on the letter and spoke a to very pleasant guy who explained they would be making provisions for residents to be able to come and go but may have use the other end of the lane sometimes. The work started and the workmen were very very helpful, the foreman and the labourers, hardly any problems, most impressed. But what I did notice was they werent council workers but outside contractors. If they were Kirklees workers I dont expect I would be praising them like I am now.
