Re: Newhallhey........update

Anyone know what the decision was by the council on the New Hall Hey site?

Obviously the council don't really want to be seen as giving in, especially when other developments have probably had conditions imposed.

That said, I really don't think that offices are needed on that site and if the site is to get going the council really do need to compromise.

There were other conditions imposed on the planning app, such as a section 41 for the artwork on the roundabout - I can't see that happening now!

Hi Lee,

I have just come across this on the R.B.C Website.

It looks like they have recommended that it should be approved but still with conditions attached.

Re: Newhallhey........update

Thanks for that. Looks like the council have made a sensible decision and hopefully the retail side of it can get moving again.

Pets at Home, Argos and Next have apparently stated an interest so lets hope they can get on board.

Out of interest, any know what sort of timescale do you think it would be if building commenced today to finish it off?
The bulk of the work has been done, so I imagine it's just fitting out. 6 months?

Also, is this site the one that Homebase were to occupy - the stone cladded building by the roundabout? Or are we possibly talking about a new set of buildings?

Re: Newhallhey........update

You would think a timescale of 6 months would be more than enough time to finish the work.

I am led to believe that the stone cladded building is what should be Homebase.
