I've been wondering for a while what was wrong with the new houses that have been built at the top of Grane Road. Why did they have to demolish the end one and all the other work that has been done on them. Does anybody know?
Also, On Grane Road again, as you approach the tops from haslingden end, opposite a pub which I think is called the Holden Arms but not sure. (Ive only lived in Rossendale for 20 years lol) there is a house on the right hand side that has been massively extended. Does anybody know what its going to be?

And.... does anybody know whats going to happen with the Airtours building and the old building accross the road where the squatters were, can't remember who had it, ermmmm, was it a company called Hamilton McBride? It was something like that, they manufactured curtains and bedding. Anyway, I wondered because those two premises make quite a big chunk of property and Im curious to know their fate.

Does anybody else think that the old Truffles restaurant building looks dwarfed and insignificant next to the three houses that have just been completed so very close to it? I wonder if it was once an ordinary cottage. Does anybody know the history of the house? Its not that far really from the old station so perhaps it was something to do with that.

And for my last question lol, does anybody know why Bowl Alley (Station Road) is so called?

Yeah, I've often asked myself that.

It has the look of an old folks home to me.

I noticed that there is a SOLD sign by the entrance to the old Hamilton McBride site. I dunno how long the sign has been there though. I've not heard of any plans for development either.

Cheers.

Re: Property questions

They will robably end up like the old bleach works site..... houses. They are nice houses and look 100% better than the bleach works ever did, but have you noticed how incredibly bright the perimiter lights are on that industrial unit there? They illuminate all the back of Holden Wood Drive and beyond. Whats in there anyway? Its massive!!

Can't wait to find out if anybody knows anything about those houses at the top of Grane Road and Truffles, i'll be logging in and out of the site like a fiddlers elbow all day now lol

That would be Solomon Commercials kingsway site, They manufacture refrigerated vehicle bodywork. I should know cos i work there. The lights are too bright & the building itself is an eyesore in my opinion, i can see it very clear from my own kitchen window

Re: Property questions

No Lee, thats the HQ which is on Knowsley road (accessed from the side of Duralay) on Broadway. Its the same company though. The vehicle panels are pressed and built into boxes up there, mounted on chassis & then driven down to us where we finish them off at the Kingsway site.

PS : I also heard that the extended building on the right about 100yds after Holden Arms is going to be an old folks home.

Re: Property questions

Ahhh thank's you two.
I used to live on Holden Wood Drive, Im glad i dont now because i'm sure all that light would keep me awake.

What about Truffles??? ohh and the houses at the top of
Grane Road, anybody got any ideas?

Was walking Wizzy at Calf Hey again today, I go nearly every day, and there is a massive log blocking one of the weirs causing a horrible scummy film to form on top of the water ....... ewwwwwwwwww. Wizzy doesnt mind though.
And last night when i walked him, I walked him round past Neiries, along that road, past the church with the spooky tree and round Bowl Alley past Air Tours and up the cut through back to Mercer Crescent. Bowl alley is closed because there are MASSIVE... WHOPPING pipes exposed, they must be something to do with the river there. They were enormous !!
