Rawtenstall Annual Fair

I'm aware that there is a 2-day fair on 12 -13th July. The wwww.visitrossendale says so but in no details - and you have to ask what's on in July before finding out that it's on. I want to participate in the dialect event in Whitaker Museum on the Sunday. I have emailed to ask the organiser about it. This forum should be aware of it - get posting.

Re: Rawtenstall Annual Fair

Saturday's events take place in the town centre - plenty to see and hear. On Sunday the action swings to Whitaker Museum and Park. I'm taking part in a dialect segment there, along with other poets and readers. The work of the great Lancashire dialect poets will be on display too.

Just in case that mermaid appears, I am taking a walking stick to give her a dig.

Rowl up, Rowl up.....

Rawtenstall Annual Fair 2013. This year it will be running over the weekend of Saturday, July 12, and Sunday, July 13, in the Town Square in Rawtenstall with live music, dance troops, clog dancers, childrens activities, a bouncy castle, face painting, local community stalls and fabulous traditional food including pie n peas, an artisan beer tent and last but not least a chocolate tombola.

Town is gearing up for annual fair celebration - Rossendale Free Press

“Sunday’s events will be really interesting, we’ll be hosting a Lancashire dialect day at Whitaker Park and museum and will feature local folk bands and poetry and a Lancashire bake.”

 Good luck to all concerned. I hope it is well attended .

I forgot to add that, in addition to there being dialect books, there will be some local history too.

Members of the Edwin Waugh Society are coming along to recite and read his works and those of other writers.
