Picture is pre 1980. It was then that the car park opposite the lasting room was developed. Early 80`s was the time the extension to the lasting room took place.
The pies George, yep they were to die for although you could only get meat & onion on a Thursday. Great cook was Evelyn.

Right you are Nige, the alternative was Cheese on toast, or as we used to call it, Glue on toast, you took a bite and about three foot of cheese would stretch out!

One of the older women who worked for donkeys years in the box room, at the bottom of the lasting room, ended up in the canteen when she retired, i think she was called Ethel.

Re: Old photos of Bridelway

I remember playing in the houses in the second pic before they were pulled down. Always wanted a pic of these as I only had my memory to prove they were there. Went to school at the old St.Peter's Rc what was Newchurch Grammar at the top of the road. Shame to have pulled it down. There were many mornings nearly being knocked down by the only car in town on that damn narrow bend.

great pics thanks!

Well what can i say?

Probably took after us on the premier track (2) had finshed early again on a Friday, leaving you lot to catch up. Remember that white top .. never seemed to get dirty even without a brat.
Anyway to get back to Staghills, can you name
1) The third ice-cream van that used to tour the estate ( Molloys and Howarths) being the main two. Days before Whippy and Softee.
2) The POP company from Accrington who did door to door.
3) The two main milk suppliers ( electric floats)
and finally where was Jimmy`s hen pen on the estate ?
