The mill in the picture was Butterworths (lolly mill) . I worked there i1965 till it closed .I was a mule spinner and worked alongside Billy Holden, Walter Fletcher, Sid Smith, Rocky Stowe, Billy Stanworth, and Billy Nally who were all mule spinners. There were 14 Mule spinners in total
and if anyone knows the names of any of the others please let me know.

I lived on Burnley Road East right oppositeBridleway, played in the river and on seat naize. There was a grocers shop over the road owned by 'Ida'. And a chip shop on the corner that sold butter beans and chips!

My mum worked there, her name was Ellen Brindle nee Leonard. Probably left in 1964
