Old Fire Station?

Hello People,

Ive recently been passing this building on Haslingden Road (Rawtenstall) and was wondering if you can tell me any information or history of this building.

Ive been told its a fire station but cant help think it also has the look of a police station, maybe a joint thing from back in the day.

Anyway below is a picture of the building.

On the 1901 Census there are three entries for Oak Bank (now 190, 192 & 194 Haslingden Road).
The first entry has Robert Speddy age 34 years, Coachman and Domestic Worker and his family. At the second is George Bridge(64) Cotton & Woollen Mill Cashier and family and at the third is Fred Pickup(31), Cotton Spinner & Manufacturer (Employer) and family.

I think it is safe to assume that it is indeed a "Coach House" and that the door and window at the right hand side is probably the stable with the out of place door above being a loading door for a horse provisions and hay store room.

Re: Old Fire Station?

When the lady that lives there opens the door on the right you can still see the ice cream signs and freezers.

Somehow (based on previous meetings) she's not entirely open to discussing the place with the riff raff - you need to be a senior member of the house of commons to get in there lol
