Ok you band of historians I have a quiz / request for y'all

What was the name of the barbers shop at Mill End in the 60s just past what was the Salvation Army HQ at the corner where Prospect meets Burnley Road East but before the bottom of Turnpike? any pictures?

Who was Albert that used to own a sweet shop on the same parade?

Who owned the house/shop under what was Aggie Webb's shop that was featured in 'Orange's are not the only fruit" tv series situated at the bottom of the hill of Wale's Road just before the Mason's Arms?

I've seen plenty of old photos of Old Street Newchurch but none of the row of houses situated at the top of Bridleway before what was St.Peter's R.C. school does anyone know if any exist?

Does anyone know about the row of houses that were located in Bolton Woods on Seat Naze to the side of the current St.Peter's School? Was this a farm or row of houses ? I remember a good few doors when we visited there in the 60s. are they still there?

Can anyone remember/express the sheer delight of fish and chips on friday night from the chip shop on Edgeside lane?

Does anyone have photos of the rows of houses in what was Hareholme before they were knocked down in the late 60s?

There used to be a ship's mast on Burnley Road East just before Lumb Park where did it come from and where did it go?

Come on you guys put these issues to rest for me!

Thumbs up Re: Waterfoot too many questions and no answers

wow you guys thats a quick and comprehensive reply!! I found the pic of St.Peter's old school showing the row of cottages behind it. brilliant thanks for that!

After being away so long you begin to think you made it all up! old age doesn't help of course.

Still outstanding is the farm/ houses in Bolton Woods?

Special award goes to Ross-en-Dale for Total local history dude!

Re: Waterfoot too many questions and no answers

Hubert was a character. My dad would go in his shop and say, 'I need a rasp file Hubert' to which Hubert would answer, every time: 'What sort of job are you doin'?'
Dad would say 'I'm just tekkin a bit off the bottom o' mi door.'
Hubert would rummage about in his toolbox and emerge with a file. 'Ere - tek this an' fetch it back when you've done ...'
It's a wonder he sold anything.!!!

I remember Mr and Mrs Long's veg shop, Hornses, where Albert's was ( I just remember Albert) and also the butcher's on the end, later a cycle shop and then a black pudding shop. There was also a fancy goods shop in the early 80s for a few years called 'Etc. Etc.' Anyone remember Sue's Brews at the bottom of Booth Road? It was a wool shop before then.

I love that little row where Hubert's was. Dead cute, ain't it?

I remember the Edgeside chippy. Didn't it set on fire at one time?
