New settlement on Musbury road

Does anybody know what's going on up Musbury road (off Holcombe road, turn by Wavel Motors, then first left) Some banking was created last year and now some people have set up home behind this banking (which obscures the view of these dwellings from normal eye level passers by but as you can see from my photos, they appear to be living the life of Riley. Hope they are paying Council tax? Hope they're not trying the old Squatters rights claim? (Ooops there I've gone and spoilt that for them by mentioning it on here) I'd love to hear from Rossendale Council regarding this but I probably won't?

Re: New settlement on Musbury road

Sorry Wadey it's not Musbury road, it's the unnamed road that leads to Hare Clough (left off Park road)

Re: New settlement on Musbury road

Councils respond to things they know about, so unless someone brings it to their attention it is unlikely they will be aware of the situation. So someone should mention it to council and they will investigate.
The site seems a bit suspect to me but who knows We had a similar one in my area and they built a house before the issue was raised with the council......then the cheeky so and so's got retrospective planning on IMO dubious grounds.

Re: New settlement on Musbury road

That's what I was thinking, why the embankment if not to conceal them from view? When I first saw the diggers there I thought it was something to do with the work being carried out further up the valley (clearing out the natural water courses) but then I saw what I first believed to be a stable (fair enough, embankment to keep the horses in) but as you can see it is obviously being used as a dwelling.

Re: New settlement on Musbury road

...... along with the 'iconic' flat-back scrap truck on the road side and what looks to be scrap goods in the yard. In addition you have to apply for planning permission for stables or any permanent building even if it's their own the land. Not to mention sewage and waste disposal.
I could however be jumping to lots of conclusions here cos I don't know the area at all.

Elcie see if this helps you, it's up this road maybe 1 or 2 hundred yards on the left . If it helps I took the photo from the top of the Tor with a zoom lens.http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&...=0CB8Q8gEw AA

Re: New settlement on Musbury road

Not sure what this is but as pointed out ring the council and let them know or just send the pics..

Have to agree though its more than likely with this councils dept that they will simply roll over and issue retrospective because they cant afford to go to court to enforce anything..

Re: New settlement on Musbury road

What they tend to do is build a house without planning permission and then run a "Save our house" campaign, the papers get involved and everybody feels sorry for them

Surely the land owner will know about this?
