We are in the process of getting a petition of objection together from local residents. The plans are for around 150 homes! Surely there is plenty of brown field sites in the valley without eating up the countryside, please could show you support by emailing your objections to greenbelt@townsend-fold.org.uk. I know we need to build extra houses but this is being done by the back door.

I dont think that is standard way of moving a thread but hope it worked.
Someone told me about these plans a few weeks ago, I presumed it was a urban myth type joke, but it's not in the least bit funny now.

Re: Townsendfold new builds

I know it is NIMBYism but not to tell the people who will be affected is just plain wrong. We found out by pure accident and have 8 weeks to put together a defence. Not a sign on a lamp post, invite to a discussion or anything, we did get a letter saying so & so a few doors down are building a conservatory - it's a bit different than that, I am really annoyed.

Not NIMBY at all Ukswf. Not in my backyard & I think it's a ridiculous idea. Already got
http://www.rossendaleonline.co.uk/at...tal_estate-pdf plans in for 170 new homes on Rossendale Hospital site.

Re: Townsendfold new builds

The Townsend Fold residents association had a meeting last night, our petition against the development has raised over 500 signatures, so thank you for your support. We have a public meeting planned on Thursday 23rd May 7.00pm at Townsend Fold Social Club (AKA The Pigeon Club) Lower Clowes. Where our chairman will outline our objections before we present our petition to the planning department etc. All are welcome.

Lancashire Telegraph have run an article ukswf

A NEW community group aimed at protecting green belt land in the south of Rawtenstall will meet for the first time today.

New group to protect Rawtenstall green belt (From Lancashire Telegraph)

The Residents and Friends of Townsend Fold group has already collected more than 500 signatures of opposition to possible housing developments on land north and south of Duckworth Lane.

Re: Townsendfold new builds

Thanks for that Laurieloo, Our first public meeting was held last night and very well attended despite the short notice we had to publicise it. The Residents Association (Residents and Friends of Townsend Fold) were very pleased with the support we received, lots of new members signed up to join us. There is a lot of work to do and we are realistic about our chance of success but must try to save the Green Belt of Rossendale.

It can be signed by emailing your objection, name and address to greenbelt@townsend-fold.org.uk

Any help would be really appreciated.

Good luck ukswf. .

Our fields are precious ; Rightmove currently have 1,179 homes listed for sale in Rossendale, including 31 new builds - surely that's enough for any potential house buyers without carving up green belt land.

The entrance view to Rossendale off the A56 and Bury Rd will be blighted by these plans, I don't want an urban sprawl approach - nothing cheers my feelings more , when I have been away than to drive over the brow on the A56 and see our fields and valley stretching ahead.

- And continued good luck with your petition
