Scrap / Non Running Car

OK, kind of Recycling, so thats why its in this section...........

Anyone know of the best way of getting rid of my now non-running car, and by best way, i mean the way thats going to make me the most money back to pay for the next one if have just had to buy

I havent rung any of the 'Scrap cars collected' things yet in case thats not the best option - as well as making some money back on it i have to think about making sure it doesnt go on to get me a stack of speeding fines and other stuff from some sort of dodgy scam

Any ideas from anyone who has got rid of one recently ? or any recomendations for a good person to contact

Re: Scrap / Non Running Car

Why don't you break it down to its component parts, clean them up and bang them on Ebay? Quite a bit of work but I would think it would give you the best return.

Cheers Paul

Re: Scrap / Non Running Car

Ebay is the only way of getting a return on it IMO.

Trying to sell a non runner is a non starter.
I had to give mine away when my cambelt failed & it was not worth repairing.

But I stripped it first & the bits are in the cellar awaiting a world shortage of Renault Megane spares

Yeh, i think selling it in bits may be the only way without getting nothing for it - had one offer of 65 for scrap so far, and i bought a headlight for it at christmas for 40 off ebay , so i think its safe to say it will make more that way

Was just trying to avoid that option due to time with too many jobs on this month

Cheers guys

Ps, if anyone has a shortage of Volvo V40 parts you know where i am

Speaking from experience Valley id break it. I once rolled a 306 when i hit some diesel on a country road near affetside, the police were going to book me for it but when a jag went sideways and nearly took the cop car out they apologised. I was going to claim on insurance, being only 18 at the time i opted out to claim. So i broke it. Got 200 for interior. 100 for wheels on ebay and the engine 280. Proves you can make some dosh on breaking cars. just get all good bits from it. Then sell it to the scrap people. There only interrested in the metal at the end of the day. All gets sent abroad to be melted in to other things.

Stu.
