I fully agree with that you work full time all your life you pay your coucil tax to go towards Marl Pits etc.
The people who dont pay any council tax receive bennefits that get them into Marl Pits at the reduced rate,

Re: Passport to Leisure

I have one for Burnley, I went on a backbusters courseat the hospital for back problems, then a excersize by prescription at st peters, where I should have a pass to allow me 1/2 price access to the gym, pools etc.

Not that I go there now, I dont like Burnley any more.

It would be ood to get some sort of cheaper rate pass in the valley, although it would be even better if it was availabl to those who work too rather than just the unemployed.

Re: Passport to Leisure

The GP Referral Scheme runs for those who's doctors think that exercise will do some good. That runs at a discounted rate for those who are on the GP Referral Scheme. It runs for 20 weeks. Your doctor has to refer you onto the GP scheme.

Re: Passport to Leisure

lisa, it's impossible for you to say that!!!!
I'm a university student, who studies 8-5 in classes then works every night and still, even i don't get any sort of discount!! You can't comment on other peoples situations i agree, however the picture that rossendale has painted as to benefits and exercise rates is not appealing.
I suffer from an injured knee but do not 'qualify' for anything!
What kind of example are the council setting to the people of tomorrow? We get told to exercise and watch our weight but the matter of the fact is that if it's too expensive we just will not go!!!
In my opinion the people on benefits shouldn't get the discounts they get. People who work their bums off 9-5 all week should!!!!

Re: Passport to Leisure

When was the last time that you were in the sports centre and asked about student rates?

Re: Passport to Leisure

I think that compared to many places the membership price for has gym is pretty good, (and you get to be taught spin by me- bonus right!?) but i do think that students should get concessions....

No actually, i think that gyms should be cheaper in general, i.e considered a public service as we do all pay our taxes and fitness is very important (lol i would say that right!)

They should tax junk food to fund free gyms!! SORTED!!!

I offer a permanent non discriminatory discount to Locals for all my services anyway folks.
