Just got to throw some stuff in a bag then I'm off to Bangers. Early flight tomorrow morning arriving at KL at about 9am. Straight to the circuit from the airport (10-15 mins).

Looking to get some good photos. I'll put them up here.

Come on, Crutch.

Re: MotoGP 2013.

We should not forget what a good season it has being for British riders in various World Championships:- Sam Lowes World Supersports Champion. Tom Sykes should shortly be World Super Bike champion and back to MotoGp, MotoGp2 leading the championship Scott Redding.
Has Cal dropped a major clanger by going to Ducati? Time will tell but they now have the financial might of Audi behind them plus technical expertise, but car people have not proved successful in their foray into motorcycle engineering in the past.

Re: MotoGP 2013.

Please bear with me - it's Monday afternoon chez Chuckwow and I've only just got back from Sepang!

This therefore is a placemarker for something a bit better wne I get my head straight.

Scene setting photo: car park

Ok - the obvious points as far as my befuddled brain is firing up whatever synapses remain after a stupendous weekend:

Scott Redding - of course. The crash that stopped GP2 after a lap we're still mulling over. If only. if only...damn but he was on fire yesterday. Go Scott! you lanky bugger!

In GP, kudos to Brad Smith - another rider who is often overshadowed by bigger names and events - and that's just how I would want it for now. He's good, give him time.

THE race in GP, the one that had the grandstands roaring, was our very own Crutch and Bautista. I hope Cal is happy - he deserves to be, he had a magnificent race.

For sheer racing, the Moto3 (as always I suppose) was real heart in the mouth stuff from beginning to end. (Edit) There is an even younger Marquez who seems as daft as his bigger (!) brother but Luis Salom, what a star. An absolute star.

Rossi's lap for Simoncelli. Well, you can imagine the emotional reaction to that. Just stupendous.

I'm not long in the door and haven't slept for 36 hours. My voice has gone with shouting (daft I know, but who didn't walk away like that yesterday afternoon?)

No RAIN! Sorry, Valentino.

Lots and lots and lots to tell, Davey Boy was on camera so we'll go through his sheets tomorrow and RoL can have exclusives - but right now I am drained. Totally exhausted but very, very happy.

Plus points to SIC for another fantastic event. Oh, and my new friends at Aprilia for all the swag.

I've used Stoo's line a few times this weekend which always gets vigorous agreement from the Brits: some nobody hits a shuttlecock in a game watched by 20 people and a dog and it's a BBC News item. MotoGP has a massive, massive untapped audience and I think it matters that the UK do so well and are so respected in this sport. Let's get behind our lads and lasses. I feel well chuffed to be a Brit when I'm at Sepang.

Met some lovely Aussie bikers and their wives. Really cool people and demon fans. I can't do Phillip Island this year simply 'cos of other commitments but we are edging closer and closer to a year where we can do the double from here.

I got to reminisce about my outings to Oulton Park and Olivers Mount 30 years ago. (Where did that 30 years go? )

Re: MotoGP 2013.

Re Badders. I was many of the doubters who did not think he would make it in the big class but have being proven wrong. His last year in moto2 was not impressive. I have read or heard somewhere that he has scored more points in his rookie year than Cal did in his.
Its sad to see Jorge revving his and the bikes nuts off trying to stay with the superior speed of the RCVs, the M1 is outclassed. The trouble is by trying so hard Jorge is more liable to crash.
Oulton and Scarborough were a trip to far for us Southern bikers, it was Brands,Thruxton,Lyden,Silverstone and the occasional foray to Mallory.
Tempus fugit When I think is 30 years since I was belting around, some of the listed circuits I cannot believe it, 40 years since watching the Match Races at Easter. 46 years since watching for the first time Mike Hailwood at Brands, seems like yesterday, wish it was.

Re: MotoGP 2013.

I won't give any spoilers. But what a race in Japan. Honestly, if I said anything at all you'd know the result.

On safer ground in GP3 - another Marquez does the deed.

Still waiting on Dave and the pics. He's been messing around with them at work and left his thumb drive on his desk. Let's hope it hsn't been 'tidied away'.

I've got a couple or three that he group emailed last week. I'll see if I can get them.

Just a tick.

Hang on, that didn't work!

Re: MotoGP 2013.

Jorge is such a smoooth rider. I think the points gap is to much for Marquez not to be champion at Valencia. Rossi I think is now past his prime as age has finally caught up with him plus he has not being the same since breaking his leg and his going to Ducati. Rossi fans must face the facts and I am one of them he is no longer going to win a World Championship. I am glad I was wrong about Bradders.

Re: MotoGP 2013.

^ Not Burgess, clearly. Bloody hell.

Quote:
Burgess immediately admitted to having been stunned by the announcement, which came from Rossi in Thursday’s press-event press conference. However, he denied speculation that quotes from himself in the media could have prompted the separation.

“Look…clearly it blindsided me,” Burgess began. “I was not expecting it whatsoever. I knew yesterday afternoon when Valentino invited me into his trailer that we weren’t going in there for the Christmas bonus.
Valencia's started already here - well, in a couple of hours. My place for qualifying - big screen in Banchang tomorrow night for the race. All the races!

Re: MotoGP 2013.

It was an unexpected surprise. Rossi now is clutching at straws but even he cannot beat age. I cannot see Marc not being crowned champion tomorrow unless he falls off or is brought off. First time since Roberts that a rookie has being crowned champion. Me? Am a Jorge/Yamaha fan since I worked for Yamaha.
many years ago so I will be keeping my fingers crossed for him. Lost interest now in MotoGp2 since Redding is out of it.
I have finally got my dog Archie not to leave the room while bike racing is on but no luck yet with football. Off to the village to fetch the papers, get a bacon sarnie and await qualifying.
